One Man Can Make A Difference!

This story is the tale of a legend.

Through the back alleys he would weave.

Children were sound asleep

and we all stayed

inside.

We’d tried

and we had prayed,

for freedom from the deep,

the hell where no one could believe

that a stranger could ever be a friend.

So when he could he would stand and defend,

saving us so we wouldn’t grieve.

But with a sudden leap,

we were afraid.

he’d died.

With pride,

our courage swayed

and we took to the street,

more people than you would believe.

This story is the tale of a legend.

  1. This is for a Poem a Day competition where I could choose from three prompts. Instead I decided to find a way to incorporate all three of them.
It had to include the words legend and weave, write about a quote relating to uniqueness and it had to be a Balance Poem:

There are four stanzas each consisting of 5 lines

The syllable structure for each stanza is as follows:

    Stanza 1: 10-8-6-4-2

    Stanza 2: 2-4-6-8-10

    Stanza 3: 10-8-6-4-2

    Stanza 4: 2-4-6-8-10

    The rhyme scheme is A, b, c, d, e — e, d, c, b, a —a, b, c, d, e — e, d, c, b, A

The first line of the poem Is the same as the last line of the poem.

    Poem should be centered
