No Going Back – An ABC Poem (E) & Friday Fictioneers

Fingers slick with sweat,

as muscles trembling,

resist tumbling.

Now full of regret.

*

Where ants down below

are falling in line,

the guilt of their crime

not yet do they know.

*

Wind whipping, gripping,

a name on its lips.

Small feet go and trip,

Gravity pulling.

*

No splash, but a smack.

A pane of dark glass

makes pain leave at last.

There’s no going back…
