Time & Place – Haibun Thinking Writing Challenge

Film / Celebrity Prompt

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

– Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

I stagnate here alone; waiting for tomorrow, obsessing over yesterday, forgetting about today. Day by day I waste away, waiting for paydays, holidays, birthdays; all days that aren’t today. I make excuses; too busy, too broke, too tired. All the while opportunity passes by, not caring that I missed my turn.

I wake and wonder

Though I remain stuck in place

Time has disappeared

  1. There are some days I think we would all like to be turtles and crawl back into our shells. I believe you speak for many of us who at some point just want to fade… But then there is always tomorrow, be brave, explore. A really well done first haibun. 🙂

And good luck with your book. I haven’t thought about actually getting paid for writing…yet. I just enjoy it too much (writing that is, to want to be subjected to editors and the dreaded red pen or suggested changes).

    I played here:

    • Thank you 🙂
I have always wanted to write a book. If I earn a living from it then awesome, but most of all I just really want people to read and enjoy my story 😀

  2. I just read a Haibun today! no kidding. It´s prose mixed with Haiku´s. Starting to be an expert. By the way don´t think I forgot about the book, just need to find more time.
    Good job.

  3. That is brilliant I love how it all flows together like that. Starting with the days and then going on with the excuses. The haiku at the end just sums it perfectly. Thank you for joining 🙂
