Film / Celebrity Prompt
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
– Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
I stagnate here alone; waiting for tomorrow, obsessing over yesterday, forgetting about today. Day by day I waste away, waiting for paydays, holidays, birthdays; all days that aren’t today. I make excuses; too busy, too broke, too tired. All the while opportunity passes by, not caring that I missed my turn.
I wake and wonder
Though I remain stuck in place
Time has disappeared
So true, happiness is found in enjoying the present rather than waiting to be happy one day. Very relevant words and nice haiku. 🙂
thanks, now if only I could take my own advice 😛
You have the recipe, all you have to do is follow it! 🙂
There are some days I think we would all like to be turtles and crawl back into our shells. I believe you speak for many of us who at some point just want to fade… But then there is always tomorrow, be brave, explore. A really well done first haibun. 🙂
And good luck with your book. I haven’t thought about actually getting paid for writing…yet. I just enjoy it too much (writing that is, to want to be subjected to editors and the dreaded red pen or suggested changes).
I played here:

Thank you 🙂
I have always wanted to write a book. If I earn a living from it then awesome, but most of all I just really want people to read and enjoy my story 😀
I just read a Haibun today! no kidding. It´s prose mixed with Haiku´s. Starting to be an expert. By the way don´t think I forgot about the book, just need to find more time.
Good job.
Thanks 🙂
I am submitting the first 50 pages to the publishers on Saturday and the nerves are kicking in big time
Good luck, keep in touch, Lets see if all goes well.
Will do thanks 😀
This is so lovely an pertinent Kerrianns, I did enjoy it a lot. Thanks for being part of the Haibun Thinking, look forward to seeing you again next week.
Thank you 🙂
I am looking forward to seeing what prompt comes up next week!
Great haibun and the haiku really says it all, especially the last two lines.
That is brilliant I love how it all flows together like that. Starting with the days and then going on with the excuses. The haiku at the end just sums it perfectly. Thank you for joining 🙂
Thanks! I wasn’t sure if I used the form correctly, but I really enjoyed putting it together! Great weekly prompt 😀
Looking forward to next week already 😛
You did 🙂 It has been a really successful first week. I am hoping the trend continues 🙂
I’m sure it will 😀
🙂
Love the haibun and haiku, Kerrie! So true for so many.
It’s a great idea for a writing prompt 😀
I had to read up on the haibun before writing it, and still not 100% sure I did it right
