Lurking Justice

Lurking in shadows,
waiting. Just waiting.

The glow of a cigarette
all that betrays his presence.
Thick smoke, rising lazily
as time passes by slowly.

He doesn’t move, he waits.
Patience his strength in this game.
Movement comes from up ahead,
he reaches for his weapon.

Watching, waiting, for his chance
to finish and close the case.
He doesn’t rush, no, he waits
till the point of no return.

This was his final chance,
He daren’t change his stance.

Till his prey comes into sight,
not knowing its deadly plight.
He strikes with such precision.
He has made his decision.

Smoke rises up from the ground,
justice served and solace found.
In blood the smoke sizzles out
and with it goes all his doubt.

His hands clean, the streets bloody,
the line between them muddy.
Right or wrong, he finds it fair
to share his pain and despair.

Lurking in shadows,
waiting. Just waiting.
He took his final chance,
and couldn’t change his stance.
